LIFE CYCLE OF BUTTERFLIES

LIFE CYCLE OF BUTTERFLIES

DID YOU KNOW?

When the egg hatches, the caterpillar will start his work and eat the leaf they were born onto. This is really important because the mother butterfly needs to lay her eggs on the type of leaf the caterpillar will eat – each caterpillar type likes only certain types of leaves. Since they are tiny and can not travel to a new plant, the caterpillar needs to hatch on the kind of leaf it wants to eat.

They grow by “molting” (changing the  skin) in just two weeks five times.

BOOK DAY, 23rd APRIL.

DID YOU KNOW....?

World Book Day
-It is a yearly event on 23 April, organized by UNESCO to promote reading.

-In 1995, UNESCO decided that the World Book and Copyright Day would be celebrated on this date. The date is also the anniversary of the birth and death of William Shakespeare, the death of Miguel de Cervantes.
-In Catalonia, Spain, since 1436, St. George's Day has been 'The Day of the Rose', where people exchange books and roses.

-In the United Kingdom, the day is recognised on the first Thursday because of the fact that it is also the National Saint's Day of England.World Book Day was celebrated for the first time on 23 April 1995.

WHAT WE DID....

All the students went to a retirement home, which is near the school, to read and recite Manuel Llano poems and riddles. Then year 6 students performed a funny play.

We made up some poems inspired by CRAIG BRADLEY . We hope he enjoys our creations as we enjoy his poems.

ANIMAL SOUNDS ARE DIFFERENT IN ENGLISH.

On Thursday 28th of March  we´ve had a Skype in which year 3 students from Ramón Pelayo and year 3 and 4 students from Middleham School in Yorkshire have been sharing the different noises animals say. For us, it is quite fun what a cockerel says. The English team did it very well and they guessed almost all the sounds. The Spanish team enjoyed the activity and the teachers too. Thanks Catherine ! .Mrs. Monagham . Thanks Diego and the students teachers.
